FAQs

Can the Dog Stopper be painted?

Primer First: Applying a primer is important. Primers designed for MDF are available and help to seal the surface, prevent swelling, and ensure a smooth finish.

Acrylic Latex Paint: It's water-based, easy to apply, and dries quickly. This paint is ideal for a wide range of colors and is environmentally friendly due to low VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).

Oil-Based Paint: Offers a tougher finish and is more resistant to scratches. However, it takes longer to dry and has a stronger odor. It's ideal for surfaces that will see a lot of wear and tear.

Chalk Paint: For a matte, shabby chic look, chalk paint is a popular choice. It adheres well to MDF and doesn't usually require a primer.

Where should I place the Dog Stopper?

It is best to position the Dog Stopper on the second step. This placement prevents the dog from gaining the leverage needed to topple over the device, thereby enhancing safety.

I have a bigger dog, can I still use the Dog Stopper?

If you own a larger dog, you can still use the Dog Stopper, though its effectiveness might be somewhat reduced. Many larger dogs possess enough strength to knock over a human, highlighting the potential challenge in restraining such powerful animals. However, the Dog Stopper is equipped with unique feet that hook onto the stairs, making it an excellent preventive measure against such incidents.

Is it possible to use the Dog Stopper in doorways?

Yes, the Dog Stopper can be used in doorways. However, it may not be as effective in this location compared to its use on stairs, as it is designed as a freestanding product. Many of our customers have successfully used it in doorways without any issues. It should be noted, though, that the Dog Stopper tends to be more effective with smaller dogs compared to larger dogs in this particular scenario.
